An old Ford Model A isn’t the first vehicle that comes to mind in a modern drag race, but, then again, neither is the 2017 Grand Cherokee SRT SUV. That’s exactly what happened not long ago when Jeep’s United Kingdom branch took to the track with both models. The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk may boast the Hellcat engine that delivers 707 hp, but the SRT is more than capable of holding its own.
Ford Model A
The Ford Model A takes part thanks to a 1956 Desoto HEMI V8 engine that churns out 304 hp. The rear-wheel drive model is the exact definition of a hot rod. That’s not to mention it weighs a little less than the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT.
2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT
The Grand Cherokee SRT is a tad bigger than the Model A, but it comes stocked with a 6.4-liter V8 engine that pumps out an impressive 468 hp. It comes equipped with all-wheel drive that offers increased acceleration.
Needless to say, the drag race doesn’t take long, and in the end, the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT came out on top. Reaching a top speed of 103 mph, the Grand Cherokee SRT ran the strip in just 13.3 seconds.
It just goes to show that the Jeep Cherokee Trackhawk isn’t the only model that can burn rubber in a drag race. The 2017 Grand Cherokee SRT can hold its own with ease.
We here at Bill Harris CDJR are pumped to see the Grand Cherokee SRT showing off its performance!
